Feeling light

I still remember being a little girl when my mother taught me how to make my own suitcase. She explained how to select the right amount of clothes with respect to the number of days the trip would last. How to combine them to obtain different outfits with the least possible amount of articles and make the good decision to choose my favorite clothes, but above all, the most useful and versatile for the expected weather.

Once everything was chosen and placed on top of my bed, she made me pack only half. LOL! I still remember how crazy it sounded. But a few days later I could not agree more and be more grateful to this wise advice which I have always used since then and has never failed.

Since then, traveling light is one of my goals every time I am lucky enough to plan a trip. Picking my closet favorites, dreaming of wandering through new places and feeling the lightness since I step on the street and start moving.

But, certainly, the best thing usually arrives a few hours later, when arriving at destination, I leave my suitcase in what will be my room for the next few nights. That moment in which I want to look out the window to see what awaits me and go eagerly to explore the unknown. Just a bag with the essentials and a big scarf for what can happen.

This feeling of freedom, mindfulness and lightness is the best and that is what I try to replicate at home, without reaching that clear end. Because you do not have to live with nothing to feel that way.
