New beginnings

Spring. The season for new beginnings. The cherry trees bloom and the fresh air runs through our windows. Lots of new ideas coming. It's time for something new.

Here is my first blog. A journal about living better. About simplifying our lives so we can focus on our passions. About learning to slow down, to connect with ours. A space of inspiration on the essentials, which helps us to feel happy with what we have.

Four years ago I left Spain and arrived in New York City with a one year old daughter, a suitcase, not a good English -neither is today, aye!- and no idea of the color of my future! But with a coherent idea in mind about the priority my daughter had for me.

It was the beginning of a very cold autumn and I was feeling happy with that new but not easy life. We changed the good weather for the cold, the quiet life for the hustle and bustle of the big apple. Everything became such an exciting experience. Strolling through the city and rediscovering it through the eyes of a baby.

New York was very beautiful despite the cold. But slowly I began to see the city from another angle, from the point of view of one more inhabitant and not just a tourist. And something that impressed me greatly was the disproportionate consumerism and the consequent volume of waste that was everywhere. I realized that the job of educating a baby in this city was going to be harder than I expected.

It was then that I became more aware of the way we consume, what we have and how we manage our time. Although after a while I got used to these things, I did not stop feeling the need to create a simple life and home to balance the daily bustle.

Something amazing about this city is the ease of meeting new people, so we started making good friends and organizing some playdates at home. It was at the moment of crossing the door when most of them, surprised, tried to find out and asked where we hid our things. I used to laugh, we did not have things. They said that our house looked incredibly peaceful and often ended up asking for help to sort theirs.

I do not have any experience in blogs, but I do have experience in living simple, in helping others to do the same, making them feel happier. And with this idea in mind, I decided to create a corner, a virtual space, where to hang out with like-minded people like you to share our passions, thoughts and ideas.

Welcome to this journey and thanks for stopping by!
